For this purpose, a diagram is displayed for different periods: • The past 24 hours • The past week • The past month • The past year The following system information is documented: • The utilisation of the main memory in percent • The processor utilisation of the system • The number of terminal server sessions active • The utilisation of the swap file For the operation of this module, the univention-maintenance package has to be installed. If the package is not installed, a corresponding message will be displayed. 156
5.3.2 Kernel modules 5.3 Standard modules The module Kernel modules offers the possibility of loading or unloading existing kernel modules. The start page contains a search mask for searching kernel modules. Apart from selecting the module cat- egory, such as drivers/video or drivers/usb, and the name, the user can restrict the display to loaded modules. In the search list, each module will be displayed and can be loaded or unloaded after prior confirmation. 5.3.3 VNC The VNC protocol (Virtual Network Computing) can be used to display graphic screen outputs from a distant computer on a local computer. This module allows the displaying of the desktop in the web browser, see Figure 5.3. Figure 5.3: Desktop in web browser Once the module has been loaded, a password must be entered, which can later be used to start the VNC session. The password is saved in an encrypted form in the .vnc/passwd file in the user’s home directory. If the file is deleted, the request is shown again. A check is then run to determine whether a VNC server is already running. If no VNC server is running, a VNC server can be started using the Start link. As soon as a VNC server is running, it can be stopped using the Stop VNC server link or a connection can be created to the VNC server. To do this, a java applet is loaded in the web browser and the UCS system can be accessed graphically in the web browser. 157
