the summary. In the Type column, the type of the object is represented in words. If a search criterion
was defined, then the next column will show the result of the search criterion. The final column Select
contains a checkbox for each of the objects. Below these checkboxes, a list field offers several operations
to be performed on the selected objects. The Invert selection option unselects the selected objects and
selects the rest of the objects instead. The Edit option allows several objects to be edited at the same
time. For example, if several users are to be deactivated at the same time, this command can be used.
The Delete option makes it possible to delete objects. With the Move option, the user can move one or
multiple objects to a different position within the directory tree.
4.4.2 Displaying and editing objects in the LDAP navigation
The information stored on an object can be displayed and edited by clicking the symbol or the name of the
object in the summary. So-called tabs will be displayed which contain information on the corresponding
object (see Illustration 4.10).

If the object in question is a container which might contain further objects, then the contents of the container
will be displayed in a directory view. The object itself is represented in this view by its symbol and the
