the summary. In the Type column, the type of the object is represented in words. If a search criterion<br />

was defined, then the next column will show the result of the search criterion. The final column Select<br />

contains a checkbox for each of the objects. Below these checkboxes, a list field offers several operations<br />

to be performed on the selected objects. The Invert selection option unselects the selected objects and<br />

selects the rest of the objects instead. The Edit option allows several objects to be edited at the same<br />

time. For example, if several users are to be deactivated at the same time, this command can be used.<br />

The Delete option makes it possible to delete objects. With the Move option, the user can move one or<br />

multiple objects to a different position within the directory tree.<br />

4.4.2 Displaying and editing objects in the LDAP navigation<br />

The information stored on an object can be displayed and edited by clicking the symbol or the name of the<br />

object in the summary. So-called tabs will be displayed which contain information on the corresponding<br />

object (see Illustration 4.10).<br />

If the object in question is a container which might contain further objects, then the contents of the container<br />

will be displayed in a directory view. The object itself is represented in this view by its symbol and the<br />
