3.2 Text-based Installation<br />

– Windows Installer - Allows the completely automatic installation of Windows comput-<br />

ers(see [4]).<br />

– Samba PDC on Non-DC Master - This option allows operation of a Windows PDC on<br />

other system roles than the domain controller master (only available on domain controller<br />

slave/backup and member servers, see also Chapter 8.3).<br />

– Winbind - This service is particularly required in trust settings between <strong>UCS</strong> and Windows<br />

domains (see Chapter 8.4.1).<br />

– <strong>Univention</strong> AD Connector - Solution for bidirectional synchronisation of the <strong>Univention</strong><br />

Directory Service and Active Directory.<br />

• Mail/Groupware<br />

– Standard mail services - Basic mail services based on Postfix for sending mail via SMTP<br />

and Cyrus for providing mailboxes via IMAP and POP3. Virus scans via ClamAV and spam<br />

detection via Spamassassin are integrated (see Chapter 12).<br />

– Kolab 2 for <strong>UCS</strong> - A groupware solution according to the Kolab standard.<br />

• IP management<br />

– DNS - Service for resolving computer names into IP addresses using Bind.<br />

– DHCP - Dynamic IP management service.<br />

– Squid proxy server - Service for central caching and policy management of visited web<br />

sites.<br />

• System services<br />

– Terminal server - Linux terminal server for operating Linux-based thin clients. (see chapter<br />

9.5).<br />
