4.1 Introduction
The menu item About UDM offers, among other things, information on the licence used and on the Uni-
vention Directory Manager program version. The submenu item Update licence via File can be used for
importing a software licence file.
Clicking Logout in the main menu opens a dialogue box asking whether to proceed with logging out. The
[Abort] button leads back to the previous menu item and back into the program. The [Ok] button causes
the system to proceed with the log-out. After login the user out, a page with a link for renewed login is
displayed.
A similar window will appear if a running Univention Directory Manager session is automatically closed
down for security reasons due to a time-out.
Renewed login is possible by clicking Login.
To change the time interval for automatic close-down, the Univention Configuration Registry variable
directory/manager/timeout can be adjusted. The interval is to be entered in seconds. Thus, for
setting the interval for automatically closing down the session to ten minutes, the value 600 has to be
entered.
The language used by Univention Directory Manager can be controlled with the Univention Configuration
Registry variable directory/manager/web/language. For the English version of Univention Directory
Manager, the variable has to be set to us.
In the default setting, the UCS system checks for available updates regularly. If an update is available, a
corresponding message will be displayed in the upper part of the welcome page (Abbildung 4.2). This mes-
sage is only shown to users who are represented in at least one of the groups specified in the Univention
Configuration Registry variable directory/manager/web/update/available/groups. The default
setting is set as Domain Admins during installation. The groups should be specified separated by com-
