4 Univention Directory Manager attributes offer a mechanism for assigning unused or newly created LDAP attributes to dialogue masks for objects managed by UCS, which can be freely configured. Furthermore, user-defined attributes make it possible to adjust existing settings. Creating user-defined attributes at the web front-end User-defined attributes are LDAP objects of the type Settings:Attribute which are stored in the LDAP directory under univention ➞custom attributes. All settings are stored in attributes of the object. 138 ’General’ tab Name (*) The name of the LDAP object for storing the user-defined attribute. Within a container, the name has to be unique. In Univention Directory Manager, this name is used exclusively for the output of data via the command line interface. Required module (*) The Univention Directory Manager module which is to be extended by the user-defined attribute. The command univention-directory-manager modules can be used for displaying a list of all modules at the command line. Several modules can be added to the list via the Add button. For extending a group property, groups/group is to be entered here, for a user property, users/user. Tab name 4.5 Univention Directory Manager modules The name of the tab at the Univention Directory Manager web front-end. Names of tabs belonging to the standard scope of UCS can also be entered. It has to be considered that only the user-defined attributes are displayed on the tabs. The range of possible settings in Univention Directory Manager can thus be extended or restricted. Some attributes, e. g. the expiry date of the password or the group membership, cannot be handled by user-defined attributes. Number on tab If several user-defined attributes are to be managed on one tab, the position of the individual attributes on the tab can be influenced here. A random number of attributes can be displayed on one tab. Description Short Description (*) This entry will be used as the title of the entry field in the Univention Directory Manager web front-end, and for changing the value via the Univention Directory Managerr command line interface. Umlauts may not be used for the short description. Long description This extended description will be displayed in the Univention Directory Manager web front-end as a tool tip. Object classes Object Class (*) The object class to which the attribute entered on the LDAP Mapping tab belongs. Schema defi- nitions define which attributes are provided by an object class. Every LDAP object which is to be extended by an attribute, has to contain the object class to which the desired attribute belongs. Delete object class If the value of a user-defined attribute in Univention Directory Manager is deleted, the attribute is removed from the LDAP object. If no further attributes of the object class registered as Object Class are used in this LDAP object, then the object class will also be removed from the LDAP object if this option is activated. ’LDAP Mapping’ tab Syntax The data type of the LDAP syntax in the schema definition of the value to be managed for this attribute. Apart from standard data types for strings and integers, there are two possibilities for expressing a binary condition: TrueFalse is represented internally by the strings true and false, while 139
