4 Univention Directory Manager 72 passwords already entered there are overwritten. If the password here is set or changed it must also be entered locally on the host in the /etc/machine.secret file. Password (retype) If the password is entered or changed manually in the Password input field, it must be repeated in this input field to exclude the risk of typing errors. Primary group The primary group of the host can be selected in this selection field. This is only necessary when they deviate from the automatically created default values. The default value for a DC master or DC backup is DC Backup Hosts, for a DC slave DC Slave Hosts and for member services, managed clients and mobile clients Computers. ’Unix account’ tab This tab is only found on computer types which join the UCS domain, e.g., domain controller, managed clients, Mac OS X clients, . . . Unix home directory (*) A different input field for the host account can be entered here. The automatically created default value for the home directory is /dev/null. Login shell If a different login shell from the default value is to be used for the computer account, the login shell can be adapted manually in this input field. The automatically set default value assumes a login shell of /bin/bash. ’Machine account’ tab This tab is only found on Windows computers. Machine account group This selection list allows you to specify the primary group for the Windows host. The Windows Hosts default value does not usually need to be changed. Initialize password with hostname This checkbox must be selected for Windows NT 4.0 computers which are to join the domain. The computer name is then saved as the password. The computer object is not selected when it is opened with Univention Directory Manager again. The password is changed when the domain is joined (Windows NT 4.0 expects the password to be the same as the computer name when joining the domain).
’Deployment’ tab 4.5 Univention Directory Manager modules This tab is found on DC master, DC backup, DC slave, member servers, managed clients, mobile clients and Windows hosts. Further information on the automatic installation can be found in the documentation for the profile-based UCS installation [3] and the Univention Windows Installer [4]. (Re-)install on next boot This checkbox should be selected if UCS should be installed automatically the next time the host is booted. Attention: The check must be removed again with Univention Directory Manager during or after the installation or else it will be reinstalled every time the host is booted! This checkbox must be selected for Windows hosts if Windows should be installed automatically on the host the next time it is booted. In addition a unattend.txt file should be entered on the [Windows installation] tab. The check is automatically removed during the Windows installation. Name of installation profile An installation profile can be specified for the host in this input field for UCS hosts. Profile should be made available in the /var/lib/univention-repository/profiles/ directory on the server on which the Univention Net Installer is executed. The file name of the profile should be entered without specifying the path. Additional start options The options from this input field are passed to the kernel during the network based installation, e.g. for the deactivation of ACPI during system startup. Interactive installation A profile-based installation is executed as standard in installation with the Univention Net Installer. This checkbox must be selected if an interactive installation should be executed instead. Values in the Name of installation profile input field are saved in the LDAP directory but not used during the installation. The Name of installation profile input field and the Interactive installation checkbox are not found on this tab for Windows hosts. The [Windows installation] tab should be used instead. ’Services’ tab This tab is available on the DC master, DC backup, DC slave and member server hosts. 73
