4 <strong>Univention</strong> Directory Manager<br />

Extended attributes are Settings: Extended attributes objects and created in the navigation (LDAP<br />

browser) under univention ➞custom attributes. All required settings are stored in attributes of the<br />

object.<br />

’General’ tab<br />

Name (*)<br />

The name of the LDAP object which will be used to store the extended attribute. Within a container,<br />

the name has to be unique.<br />

Default short description (*)<br />

Used as title of the input field in the <strong>Univention</strong> Directory Manager web interface or as the attribute de-<br />

scription in the <strong>Univention</strong> Directory Manager command line interface. The standard short description<br />

should be compiled in English as this is the standard language for <strong>Univention</strong> Directory Manager.<br />

Default short description<br />

This long description is shown as a tool tip in the input fields in <strong>Univention</strong> Directory Manager web in-<br />

terface. This long standard description should be compiled in English as this is the standard language<br />

for <strong>Univention</strong> Directory Manager.<br />

Translated short description<br />

Translated short descriptions can be saved in several languages so that the title of extended attributes<br />

is also output with other language settings in the respective national language. This can be done by<br />

assigning the respective short description to a language code (e.g., de_DE or fr_FR) in this input<br />

field.<br />

Additional information displayed in the tool tip for an extended attribute can also be saved for several<br />

languages. This can be done by assigning the respective long description to a language code (e.g.,<br />

Tab name<br />

The name of the tab in the <strong>Univention</strong> Directory Manager web interface on which the extended at-<br />

tribute should be displayed. If the tab does not already exist, it will be created automatically. Names<br />

of tabs belonging to the standard scope of <strong>UCS</strong> can also be entered. The name of the tab should be<br />

compiled in English as this is the standard language for <strong>Univention</strong> Directory Manager.<br />

If no tab name is entered, user-defined will be used.<br />

If a user with different language settings logs on to <strong>Univention</strong> Directory Manager, the names of
