13 Print services
13.6 Univention Configuration Registry variables
13.6.1 Settings for print clients
cups/server: The print server the system should use. This value is overwritten by the Print server
policy and should thus be set in Univention Directory Manager.
13.6.2 Settings for the authentication on printer shares
cups/restrictedprinters: A list of printers with access restrictions.
cups/automaticrestrict: If this variable is set to no, the list of printers in
cups/restrictedprinters is no longer automatically modified by the Cups listener mod-
ule if printers are created, modified or deleted.
13.6.3 Settings for printer shares
samba/printmode/usergroup/GROUPNAME: These variables makes it possible to prohibit or provide
certain groups access to printers via Samba printer shares. If the corresponding variable is set to
all for a group with the name GROUPNAME, it will be noted as an approved group on all local
printer shares in Samba. If on the contrary the variable is set to none, the corresponding group
will be entered as invalid for all local printer shares. Access rights given with these Univention
Configuration Registry"=Variablen apply in addition to those which were set on the individual printer
objects by Univention Directory Manager on the Access control tab (see Section 4.5.7). The way in
which Samba analyses share permissions means that a user who is a member of both an approved
group and an invalid group cannot print.
13.6.4 Settings for print quotas
cups/quota/account: The quota information are saved in a PostgreSQL database. This setting regis-
ters the PostgreSQL user for access. The standard setting is pykotaadmin.
cups/quota/admin/mail: The e-mail address of the quota administrator. The standard setting is
root@.
cups/quota/inform: (De)activates the e-mail notification that a quota has been exceeded. Possible
values are no (standard) and yes.
cups/quota/secret: Path entry to the password file for the quota database. The standard setting is
/etc/pykota/pykota.secret
cups/quota/server/access: The methods of accessing the quota database. The standard setting is
local.
276
dard setting is localhost.
