• The advanced options are dependent on the type of the new mailbox. For a IMAP, DIMAP or POP3
account [Check What the server supports] should be selected again on the Security tab and the
determined value adopted.
• Clicking [OK] completes the set-up of the new inbox account.
The Settings ➞Configure KMail set-up dialogue is set up using the [OK] button. E-mails can now be
retrieved from the mail server using the symbol showing an envelope and a green and white arrow.
12.6.2 Outlook Express
Outlook Express 6 in Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 was used for this documentation.
To create a new e-mail account, the assistant for Internet access must be started. This opens automatically
when Outlook Express is started as long as no e-mail account has been set up in Outlook Express yet.
It can otherwise be opened via Extras ➞Accounts ➞E-Mail tab ➞Add ➞E-Mail. For this, the following
listed settings should be performed as described and any other settings performed as necessary.
The primary e-mail address as entered for this user on the Mail tab in Univention Directory Manager must
also be entered here in the Email address input field.
POP3 or IMAP must be selected in the selection list in the phrase The server for incoming mail is a ...
server. The FQDN of the UCS mail server responsible for the receipt of e-mails must be entered in the
inbox server (POP3, IMAP or HTTP).
The fully qualified domain name of the UCS mail server set up to send e-mails must be entered in the
Server for outgoing mail (SMTP) input field.
The e-mail address given as the primary e-mail address for this user on the Mail tab in Univention Directory
Manager should be entered in lowercase in the Account name input field. The password entered for the
user on the General tab in Univention Directory Manager should be entered in the Password input field.
The checkbox Login through secure password authentication (SPA) should not be selected.
If an existing e-mail account is to be reconfigured for the use of the UCS mail server, Extras > Accounts
must be run in Outlook Express. The account should be selected on the E-mail tab and Properties clicked.
The inbox server (IMAP or POP3), outbox server (STMP), account name and password input field must
be filled in on the following Server tab as described above. Changing from IMAP to POP3 or vice versa
requires the creation of a new e-mail account.
