directory manager and univention repository and as the name server in the SOA records for forward and
reverse zones, the script also exchanges it in these sites for the former DC backup.
Attention:
If an external DNS service is being used, the entries must be adapted there manually.
If the former DC master was entered in the LDAP directory as a mail relay host, the script also changes
this entry to the former DC backup. This change is performed with Univention Directory Manager; the
LDAP replication automatically adapts the Univention Configuration Registry variable mail/relay on all
systems.
The script changes the server role entered in the LDAP directory of the former DC backup to DC master
and deletes the former DC master and, where applicable, its DNS host entry in the forward lookup zone,
its pointer in the reverse lookup zone and its DHCP host entry from the LDAP directory.
Note that the former DC backup is entered as the name server on all computers in the domain if the internal
DNS service is switched on. Usually, the DC backup should be entered as the second name server after
the DC master during the installation of each computer.
Along with the automatic changes, some changes must be performed manually:
1. Further DNS settings which point to the former DC master.
2. DHCP settings which point to the former DC master (e.g., name server and WINS server).
3. Univention Configuration Registry settings which point to the former DC master.
The respective entries in the LDAP directory must be adapted with Univention Directory Manager and
those on the computers with Univention Configuration Registry.
The univention-backup2master script only ensures that the domain controller master function is
adopted by the DC backup. The script does not set up replacements for other services that the former DC
master may have provided, e.g., groupware or terminal services.
A new DC backup should be put in place to reinstate system redundancy.
16.2 How can I install Microsoft TrueType fonts subsequently?
Some applications use Microsoft TrueType fonts as standard. When these are not available they are
usually replaced with other fonts automatically.
For licensing reasons the Microsoft TrueType fonts cannot be delivered on the UCS installation CD. An
attempt is made during the installation to download these from the Internet from sourceforge.net.
If this attempt fails during the installation, e.g., when there is no Internet connection available, the fonts
can be installed at any other time using the command update-ms-fonts.
If installation of the Microsoft TrueType fonts was deselected during the installation, it can be made avail-
able by subsequent installation of the msttcorefonts package.
