last names of the users, a column with the last names will be displayed.
4.3 Univention Directory Manager Wizards
The Location column shows the position of the search result within the LDAP directory. The position is a
value consisting of the domain, followed by the name of the currently selected container.
The final column Select contains a checkbox for each of the objects. Below these checkboxes, a list field
offers several operations to be performed on the selected objects. The Invert selection option unselects
the selected objects and selects the rest of the objects instead. The Edit option allows several objects
to be edited at the same time. For example, if several users are to be deactivated at the same time, this
command can be used. The Delete option makes it possible to delete objects.
Clicking the name of the object or the symbol in front of the name in the list of search results opens the data
of the object for viewing/editing. The data are distributed among several tabs and basically correspond to
the data in the object adding mode. The differences are described in the relevant Univention Directory
Manager module documentation (see chapters 4.5.1 to 4.5.12).
When editing is finished, the changes can either be written to the LDAP directory by clicking the [Ok]
button, or be discarded by clicking [Cancel].
Attention:
When clicking one of the mentioned buttons, the previously buffered search results are displayed again.
Changes made in the meantime are not yet included in the buffered search results!
4.3.2 The ”Add” submenu
Figure 4.7: Adding a user
The Add submenu is a simple means of adding objects of a certain type.
The Select container select list makes it possible to choose between different positions within the LDAP
directory. Further details on the registered containers can be found in chapter 4.5.12.7.
If the wizard applies to several different Univention Directory Manager modules, then a list will be displayed
from which the desired type can be selected.
If the Univention Directory Manager module, which is concerned with this wizard, supports templates, then
a list of possible templates will be presented under Select Template.
Clicking the [Cancel] button discards the input and activates the wizard’s Search submenu.
Clicking [Next] shows the tabs of the new object. On these tabs, all the relevant data concerning the
new object can be entered. By a final click on the [Ok] button, the entered data are written to the LDAP
