situation unit (E224)<br />

This course is designed to provide FEMA Planning<br />

Section personnel with additional knowledge and<br />

abilities to operate in the Situation Unit during a<br />

disaster operation. It is an intermediate-level course,<br />

with a high intensity of exercises and work projects<br />

to be completed in order to pass. Upon completion<br />

of this course, participants will be able to collect<br />

and analyze in<strong>for</strong>mation; develop and maintain the<br />

In<strong>for</strong>mation Collection Plan; produce statistical and<br />

situational displays; demonstrate basic analytical skills;<br />

produce various intelligence reports and summaries;<br />

and establish and maintain the Situation Room.<br />

Selection Criteria: Planning personnel who have an<br />

assignment and responsibility in the Situation Unit.<br />

Participants who sign up <strong>for</strong> this course should<br />

have been deployed <strong>for</strong> at least 45 days within this<br />

area. All nominations will be submitted through the<br />

FEMA Regional Training Managers.<br />

Documentation unit (E229)<br />

This course is designed to provide FEMA Planning<br />

Section personnel with additional knowledge and<br />

abilities to operate in the Documentation Unit<br />

during a disaster operation. It is an intermediatelevel<br />

course, with a high intensity of exercises and<br />

work projects to be completed in order to pass. Upon<br />

completion of this course, participants will be able<br />

to describe the roles and responsibilities within the<br />

Documentation Unit; produce the major products<br />

that this section is responsible <strong>for</strong> during a disaster<br />

operation; and describe the inter-relationship of the<br />

Documentation Unit to other Planning, JFO, and<br />

higher echelon elements.<br />

Selection Criteria: Planning personnel who have an<br />
