To take an EMI course, applicants must meet the<br />
selection criteria and prerequisites specified <strong>for</strong> each<br />
course. Participants may not take the same course<br />
more than once.<br />
Enrollment in EMI <strong>courses</strong> is generally limited to U.S. residents;<br />
however, each year a limited number of international<br />
participants are accommodated. (See Foreign<br />
Applicants, page 18.)<br />
The NETC is an equal opportunity campus. It does<br />

procedures. NETC actively encourages all qualified<br />
candidates to apply <strong>for</strong> all <strong>courses</strong>.<br />

ENROLLMENT FOR EMI COURSES<br />
Students can apply to EMI <strong>courses</strong> any time up to 5 weeks be<strong>for</strong>e the start of the course. Acceptance letters will be sent to students<br />
who apply early 8 weeks prior to the start of the course.<br />
Dates <strong>for</strong> <strong>courses</strong> can be accessed at www.training.fema.gov/<strong>emi</strong><strong>courses</strong>. The NETC Admissions Office will<br />
review the applications as they are received and notify applicants regarding their status.<br />
Once accepted into a course, participants will receive an acceptance letter with further instructions<br />
regarding transportation and other matters. Arriving at NETC <strong>for</strong> a class without <strong>for</strong>mal acceptance<br />
from the NETC Admissions Office will result in the participant being sent home.<br />
In an ef<strong>for</strong>t to fill EMI <strong>courses</strong>, vacancies will be updated frequently and posted on the EMI<br />
Web site (www.training.fema.gov/<strong>emi</strong><strong>courses</strong>) and interested personnel may apply. EMI will fill vacancies<br />
on a first-come, first-served basis. (NOTE: <strong>for</strong> IEMC vacancies by position, consult the IEMC Web site at<br />
www.training.fema.gov/<strong>emi</strong><strong>courses</strong>).<br />

application procedures<br />
The <strong>for</strong>m used to apply to take an EMI course is the<br />
General Admissions Application Form (FEMA Form<br />
75-5). A copy of the <strong>for</strong>m is included at the back<br />
of this catalog and it may be duplicated. Additional<br />
<strong>for</strong>ms can be downloaded from the EMI web site<br />
(www.training.fema.gov/apply) or obtained from State and<br />
local emergency management offices, FEMA regional<br />
offices, or the NETC Office of Admissions. The<br />
addresses <strong>for</strong> the State/local emergency management<br />
offices and the FEMA regional offices are listed at the<br />
back of the catalog. Please fill out ALL blanks on the<br />
application <strong>for</strong>m or it will be returned.<br />
