(cErt) train-the-trainer (ttt) (E428)<br />
This course prepares participants to deliver FEMA’s<br />
CERT Basic Training course.<br />
This train-the-trainer course focuses on preparing<br />
instructors to:<br />
• Deliver CERT Basic Training<br />
• Convey the messages and intent of the CERT<br />
Program (e.g., safety, teamwork, place in overall<br />
community <strong>Emergency</strong> Operations Plan)<br />
• Assure that participants achieve the objectives of<br />
CERT Basic Training<br />
• Create a com<strong>for</strong>table yet managed learning<br />
environment<br />
Course topics include:<br />
• CERT history, program purpose, and values<br />
• Materials and requirements <strong>for</strong> the CERT Basic<br />
Training course<br />
• Roles of the CERT instructor<br />
• Effective presentation of CERT Basic Training content<br />
• Effective coaching and demonstration of skills in<br />
the classroom<br />
• Practices to maximize learning<br />
• Effective evaluation of CERT training participants<br />
The CERT Train-the-Trainer course is delivered at EMI<br />
sequentially during the same week with the E427,<br />
CERT Program Manager, course. Participants who<br />
wish to take both <strong>courses</strong> must submit a separate<br />
application <strong>for</strong> each course. Although either course<br />
may be taken separately, EMI encourages people to<br />
take both <strong>courses</strong> the same week.<br />
Selection Criteria: The target audience <strong>for</strong> this course<br />
includes those who will:<br />
• Serve as the course manager <strong>for</strong> the CERT Basic<br />
Training course<br />
• Be CERT Basic Training course instructors<br />

Prerequisites:<br />
Required: A referral from a CERT-sponsoring agency,<br />
typically a local, regional, or State government<br />
agency, and must have completed the CERT Basic<br />
Training course or IS 317, Introduction to CERT, which<br />
can be found at http://www.citizencorps.gov/cert/IS317/.<br />
Course Length: 2½ days<br />
Incident command system (Ics) curricula<br />
train-the-trainer (ttt) (E449)<br />
This course prepares participants to deliver EMI’s<br />
ICS curricula. While ICS-100 and ICS-200 <strong>courses</strong><br />
are addressed, the major emphasis is on ICS-300<br />
and ICS-400.<br />
Selection Criteria: Participants must demonstrate a<br />
working knowledge of ICS through experience and<br />
training and must be experienced in delivering<br />
adult education.
