NOTE: Participants must have taken the <strong>Emergency</strong> <strong>Management</strong><br />

<strong>Institute</strong>, U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Fire Academy,<br />

or National Wildfire Coordinating Group ICS <strong>courses</strong>. Other ICS<br />

<strong>courses</strong> will be reviewed <strong>for</strong> consistency with the ICS objectives<br />

prescribed by the NIMS Integration Center.<br />

Participants must have worked as IC, Command or<br />

General Staff positions on incidents, planned events,<br />

or exercises that went longer than one operational<br />

period or involved a written action plan and involved<br />

multiagency coordination.<br />

NOTE: Persons who previously completed E449, Incident<br />

Command System (ICS) Curricula Train-the-Trainer<br />

(TTT), can deliver EMI’s revised ICS curriculum without<br />

repeating E449.<br />

This course is designed to acquaint experienced<br />

COOP practitioners and instructors with the<br />

Continuity of Operations (COOP) Program<br />

Managers course materials. The objectives include<br />

defining COOP; explaining the benefits of a viable<br />

COOP program and plan; identifying elements of a<br />

viable COOP program; and identifying processes,<br />

resources, and tasks necessary to implement and<br />

manage a successful COOP program. The course will<br />

also refresh experienced instructors on instructional<br />

methodology and techniques.<br />

Selection Criteria: This course is designed <strong>for</strong> public<br />

sector staff with responsibility <strong>for</strong> managing their<br />

COOP ef<strong>for</strong>t. Others who are integral to the COOP<br />

planning process may also take the course. E/L548<br />

is <strong>for</strong> Federal participants.<br />

Required: Participants must have knowledge of<br />

COOP programs and the Federal Continuity<br />

Directives 1 and 2.<br />

train-the-trainer (ttt) (E/l550)<br />

This course is based on the guidance to the Federal<br />

Executive Branch departments and agencies <strong>for</strong><br />

developing Continuity of Operations (COOP) plans<br />

and programs. COOP plans facilitate the per<strong>for</strong>mance<br />

of essential functions during any situation which may<br />

disrupt normal operations. This course is designed<br />

to provide the skills and knowledge to improve the<br />

overall quality and workability of COOP plans.<br />

Selection Criteria: The primary audience is<br />

individuals who have responsibility <strong>for</strong> COOP<br />

planning in their department or agency. E/L550<br />

is <strong>for</strong> Federal participants.<br />

Prerequisites:<br />

Required: IS 547.a, Introduction to Continuity of Operations<br />

(COOP) or E/L548, Continuity of Operations (COOP)<br />

Program Managers Train-the-Trainer (TTT).<br />

Recommended: IS 235, <strong>Emergency</strong> Planning.<br />
