security Orientation (E979)<br />
This is an introductory course designed to<br />
acclimate newly hired FEMA Security Specialists to<br />
the responsibilities of their position within a Joint<br />
Field Office. Topics include workplace violence,<br />
identity theft, video surveillance systems, security<br />
operations, security assessments, reports and plans,<br />
physical and personnel security, and an overview on<br />
the Security identification badging and electronic<br />
fingerprinting systems.<br />
Selection Criteria: Newly hired FEMA Security<br />
Specialists. All nominations will be submitted<br />
through the National Security Cadre Manager.<br />
Course Length: 4 days<br />

This is a high-level course designed specifically <strong>for</strong><br />
FEMA Security Managers who will be trained on<br />
a yearly basis on updated policies and procedures<br />
regarding Badging, Fingerprinting, Credentialing,<br />
AED/CPR/First Aid/BBP, Agency Technical<br />
Representation, and any other certifications that they<br />
are currently responsible <strong>for</strong>.<br />

FEMA Security Cadre. All nominations will be submitted<br />
through the National Security Cadre Manager.<br />

fEma safety refresher course (E981)<br />
This course is mandatory <strong>for</strong> all safety professionals<br />
within the FEMA Safety Cadre. This course meets<br />
the Occupational Safety and Health Administration<br />
(OSHA) requirements <strong>for</strong> what a Safety Officer<br />
must know, what to look <strong>for</strong>, and how to look <strong>for</strong> it.<br />
Completion of this course is required <strong>for</strong> credentialing<br />
in accordance with the National Safety Cadre.<br />
Selection Criteria: Offered to FEMA Disaster Safety Officers<br />
by the Occupational Safety and Health Office.<br />

Required: Member of the Safety Cadre.<br />
Course Length: 4 days<br />

Hurricane liaison team (Hlt) (l990)<br />
This training is <strong>for</strong> individuals assigned to the<br />
Hurricane Liaison Team (HLT) that works at the<br />
National Hurricane Center (NHC) to support pre-<br />
and post-hurricane events.<br />
Selection Criteria: FEMA personnel from Regions<br />
(Permanent Full-Time (PFT) employees, Cadre of<br />
On-call Response Employees (CORE), and Disaster<br />
Reservists) who are training in specific knowledge<br />
and skills required to get the HLT operational within<br />
the NHC structure.<br />
