This course is designed to familiarize participants<br />
with various aspects of the Floodplain Manager’s<br />
job. Four key roles will be examined and discussed:<br />
Regulator, Coordinator, Educator, and Planner. These<br />
roles impact the Floodplain Manager’s job and have<br />
broad-reaching impacts in the community.<br />
Selection Criteria: This course is designed <strong>for</strong> Floodplain<br />
Managers with at least 2 years of floodplain<br />
management experience or who have the Certified<br />
Floodplain Manager (CFM) credential.<br />

(nfIp) rules and regulations in<br />
Depth (g194.2)<br />
This course is designed to review Section 60.3<br />
of Title 44 of the Code of Federal Regulations<br />
(CFR) and other rules and regulations that impact<br />
floodplain management. Participants will be led<br />
through discussions and interactive exercises<br />
that explore the details of the interpretations of<br />
the various regulations. Topics covered include:<br />
floodway and encroachment requirements; new<br />
residential building requirements; development in<br />
Approximate A zones; accessory and agricultural<br />
buildings; anchoring fuel storage tanks; regulating<br />
recreational vehicles; environmental and historical<br />
regulations; and typical compliance problems.<br />
Selection Criteria: This course is designed <strong>for</strong> Floodplain<br />
Managers with at least 2 years of floodplain<br />
management experience or who have the Certified<br />
Floodplain Manager (CFM) credential.<br />

This course is designed to familiarize participants<br />
with the Letter of Map Change (LOMC) process and<br />
<strong>for</strong>ms and actions necessary to get Letters of Map<br />
Change reviewed and approved or denied. Letters<br />
of Map Amendment, Letters of Map Amendment<br />
based on Fill, Letters of Map Revision, Conditional<br />

Letters of Map Revision, and other topics will be<br />
discussed and reviewed. Interactive exercises and<br />
in-depth discussions will aid participants in learning<br />
this in<strong>for</strong>mation.<br />

management experience or who have the Certified<br />

preparing <strong>for</strong> post-Disaster<br />
responsibilities (g194.4)<br />
This course is designed to familiarize participants<br />
with the issues surrounding getting teams started<br />
<strong>for</strong> work in the post-disaster environment. Topics<br />
include: Identifying Partners and Resources; Creating<br />
Post-Disaster SOPs; Introduction to Post-Disaster<br />
SOPs; Introduction to Post-Disaster Operations;<br />
initial sweeps and public in<strong>for</strong>mation; detailed<br />
substantial damage inspections; substantial damage<br />
declarations and posting; permitting documentation;<br />
and compliance and funding sources.<br />
Selection Criteria: This course has in-depth discussion of<br />
the topics and exercises to help Floodplain Managers<br />
prepare <strong>for</strong> post-disaster activities and is designed <strong>for</strong><br />
Floodplain Managers with at least 2 years of floodplain<br />
management experience or who have the Certified<br />
Floodplain Manager (CFM) credential.<br />
