Beginning in FY 2009, a HAZUS MH Training<br />

• E170, HAZUS MH <strong>for</strong> Hurricane, or<br />

Curriculum was initiated, leading to the attainment of<br />

a completion certificate as a “HAZUS Professional” or • E172, HAZUS MH <strong>for</strong> Flood, or<br />

“HAZUS Practitioner” <strong>for</strong> those individuals seeking • E174, HAZUS MH <strong>for</strong> Earthquake<br />

recognition <strong>for</strong> their training accomplishments in<br />

HAZUS. Required course completions <strong>for</strong> each track HaZus mH <strong>for</strong> Hurricane (E170)<br />

are listed below and as noted in Figure 1. Upon<br />

completion of the required <strong>courses</strong>, a certificate of<br />

completion <strong>for</strong> the applicable track will be issued.<br />

This course provides in-depth discussion of the<br />

HAZUS MH hurricane model through a combination<br />

of lectures and hands-on exercises. The course begins<br />

by which HAZUS can be applied in response and<br />

and applications of HAZUS MH <strong>for</strong> mitigation<br />

benefit analysis. It concludes with a review of model<br />

HAZUS Trained Professional Track<br />

Selection Criteria: The audience <strong>for</strong> this course<br />

includes State and local emergency managers and<br />

GIS specialists, State and local planners, regional<br />

personnel responsible <strong>for</strong> wind mitigation and<br />

response activities, and other Federal agencies. A strong<br />

working knowledge of ArcGIS is recommended.<br />

Prerequisites:<br />

Recommended: E313, Basic HAZUS MH, course,<br />

any field or resident HAZUS course, previous<br />

or current use of HAZUS or ArcGIS software in<br />

per<strong>for</strong>ming your job, or skills equivalent to those<br />

taught in E190, ArcGIS <strong>for</strong> <strong>Emergency</strong> Managers.<br />
