This course introduces participants to the<br />
characteristics of a pand<strong>emi</strong>c influenza, the effects<br />
that a pand<strong>emi</strong>c influenza can have on every facet<br />
of our society, and the steps their organizations can<br />
take to minimize the effects of a pand<strong>emi</strong>c. The<br />
primary audiences <strong>for</strong> this course are personnel<br />
at any level of government, representatives from<br />
Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), or<br />
representatives from private industry who may<br />
have a need <strong>for</strong> a basic understanding of pand<strong>emi</strong>c<br />
influenza and the impacts that they can expect should<br />
a widespread pand<strong>emi</strong>c occur in the United States.<br />

Exercising continuity plans <strong>for</strong> pand<strong>emi</strong>cs<br />
(Is 522)<br />
This course is a follow-on to IS 520, Introduction to<br />
Continuity of Operations (COOP) Planning <strong>for</strong> Pand<strong>emi</strong>c<br />
Influenzas. It includes a brief review of continuity<br />
planning <strong>for</strong> pand<strong>emi</strong>cs and then involves the<br />
participant in a continuity pand<strong>emi</strong>c exercise<br />
(Determined Accord). This course is developed in a<br />
flexible delivery <strong>for</strong>mat which allows <strong>for</strong> classroom<br />
delivery in combination with participants taking<br />
the IS course test either online or in the classroom.<br />
The primary audiences <strong>for</strong> this course are personnel<br />
at any level of government, representatives from<br />
Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), or<br />
representatives from private industry who desire<br />
to conduct a short tabletop continuity pand<strong>emi</strong>c<br />
exercise (Determined Accord). Participants should be<br />
familiar with their agency/organization continuity<br />
and pand<strong>emi</strong>c plans.<br />

This 1-hour web-based course will provide all public<br />
sector employees with a fundamental understanding<br />
of continuity of operations, terms, objectives, and<br />
benefits to their organization. It gives a brief overview<br />
of the elements of a viable COOP capability. This<br />
awareness course provides in<strong>for</strong>mation on how a<br />
COOP event might affect you, your organization,<br />
and your family, whether you are a member of your<br />
organization’s COOP team or not.<br />
