The purpose of the NIMS ICS All-Hazards Position-<br />
Specific Training Program is to provide a portion of<br />
the training that may be needed to establish Type<br />
III and IV Incident <strong>Management</strong> Teams (IMTs). This<br />
training program is designed to provide all-hazards<br />
competencies and behaviors <strong>for</strong> the eight Command<br />
and General Staff and selected Unit Leader positions<br />
within the NIMS ICS and specifically within the IMT<br />
environment. Competencies within the 15 individual<br />
<strong>courses</strong> of instruction that comprise this training<br />
program are focused around the ability of the<br />
student to assume specific position responsibilities,<br />
lead assigned personnel, communicate effectively,<br />
and to ensure the completion of assigned tasks to<br />
meet identified objectives <strong>for</strong> the position(s).<br />
Selection Criteria, Regular Course Offerings: NIMS ICS<br />
All-Hazards Position-Specific training should be<br />
completed by personnel who are currently members<br />
of Type III or Type IV IMTs, or by those seeking<br />
credentials/certification <strong>for</strong> ICS Command and<br />
General Staff or Unit Leader positions. Participants<br />
who wish to apply <strong>for</strong> NIMS ICS All-Hazards<br />
Position-Specific training shall have completed IS<br />
100, IS 200, IS 700, and ICS-300 as a prerequisite to<br />
entering the program.<br />
Course Length: The length of each Position-Specific<br />
course and related in<strong>for</strong>mation is noted in each<br />
course description.<br />

specific: Incident commander (Ic)<br />
course (E950)<br />
This course is designed to provide local and State-level<br />
emergency responders with a robust understanding<br />
of the duties, responsibilities, and capabilities of<br />
an effective Incident Commander (IC) on an All-<br />
Hazards Incident <strong>Management</strong> Team (AHIMT). These<br />
responsibilities fall into two categories: 1) responding<br />
to the incident and command needs of the incident, and<br />
2) effectively fulfilling the position responsibilities of<br />
an IC on an All-Hazards ICS IMT. Exercises, simulations,<br />
discussions, and a final exam enable participants to<br />
process and apply their new knowledge.<br />
Selection Criteria: NIMS ICS All-Hazards Position-<br />
Specific training should be completed by personnel<br />
who are regularly assigned to functional, support,<br />
or unit leader positions on United States Fire<br />
Administration (USFA) or other Type III AHIMTs,<br />
or by those persons who desire to seek credentials/<br />
certification in those positions.<br />

(ICS) <strong>for</strong> Expanding Incidents, ICS-300; IS 100.a, Introduction<br />
to the Incident Command System (ICS), ICS-100; IS 200.a,<br />
Incident Command System (ICS) <strong>for</strong> Single Resources and Initial<br />
Action Incidents, ICS-200; and IS 700.a, National Incident<br />
<strong>Management</strong> System (NIMS), An Introduction.<br />

specific: public In<strong>for</strong>mation Officer<br />
(pIO) course (E952)<br />
This course is designed <strong>for</strong> a Public In<strong>for</strong>mation<br />
Officer (PIO) assigned to an incident as a member of<br />
an All-Hazards Incident <strong>Management</strong> Team (AHIMT)<br />
and local IMTs, as well as <strong>for</strong> the PIO assigned to an<br />
incident as an assistant PIO in a variety of capacities.<br />
This course will help participants develop a strong<br />
set of core PIO skills and the ability to apply them<br />
within the context of an AHIMT. This course is also
