or involve new technology in order to give the<br />
partners a more advanced level of specific technical<br />
training. Examples of topics include topographic data<br />
development; base mapping and digital flood maps;<br />
and map production and processing procedures. At<br />
the conclusion of this course, participants will have<br />
answers to specific questions, a better understanding<br />
of the technical aspects of the CTP, and more insight<br />
into the FEMA guidance and standards <strong>for</strong> NFIP<br />
flood maps.<br />
Selection Criteria: Federal, State, and local staff<br />
responsible <strong>for</strong> implementing and overseeing the<br />
CTP initiative. The course is intended <strong>for</strong> current CTP<br />
members who are active mapping partners, and who<br />
are responsible <strong>for</strong> administering the CTP Program<br />
<strong>for</strong> a State or regional agency, or local community<br />
partner and/or managing the technical aspects of<br />
mapping activities.<br />
Prerequisites:<br />
Required: Participants must have signed a Partnership<br />
Agreement and Mapping Activity Statement with<br />
FEMA to be eligible to attend this course. Only<br />
those approved by FEMA Headquarters Point of<br />
Contact will be considered <strong>for</strong> the course.<br />

Hydrologic Engineering center: riverine<br />
analysis system (HEc ras) (E264)<br />
The objective of this course is to enable the participants<br />
to per<strong>for</strong>m water-surface profile computations using<br />
the computer program Hydrologic Engineering<br />
Center: Riverine Analysis System (HEC RAS) in a<br />
sound and effective manner.<br />
Topics will include concepts of open channel<br />
flow, data requirements, basic input requirements,<br />
output analysis, application of bridge and culvert<br />
routines, and floodway determination. Participants<br />
will have an opportunity to prepare and analyze<br />
output during workshops.<br />

the national flood Insurance program<br />
(nfIp) train-the-trainer (ttt) (E270)<br />
This course is designed to train subject matter<br />
experts in how to deliver an effective and interesting<br />
course on floodplain management topics. The<br />
Managing Floodplain Development Through the National Flood<br />
Insurance Program (NFIP) (E273) course is used as the<br />
basis <strong>for</strong> delivery of this training. Participants will<br />
be expected to pick two topics of the E273 course<br />
and be prepared to teach them to the full class, and<br />
then to receive constructive feedback regarding their<br />
presentation. Two days of the course are dedicated to<br />
the various factors that can make training exceptional<br />
and effective, with the remaining 2 days used <strong>for</strong><br />
practice and evaluation. Videotapes will be made so<br />
that participants can review their own per<strong>for</strong>mance<br />
and critique themselves at their leisure.<br />
Selection Criteria: While the E273 material is used <strong>for</strong><br />
presentations in this course, participants should be<br />
able to use the techniques used in this course to<br />
teach many other floodplain management <strong>courses</strong>.<br />
Participants should be familiar with the course<br />
material they will teach and experienced enough<br />
to teach their class and answer in-depth questions.<br />
If participants wish to present another floodplain<br />
management topic of instruction other than E273,<br />
they should bring that material to the course,<br />
including PowerPoint and instructing material.<br />
Prerequisites:<br />
Recommended: Participants should have attended<br />
E273, Managing Floodplain Development Through the<br />
National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), or Certified<br />
Floodplain Managers.<br />
