Foundation and Certified Seed produced by public seed corporations
The PVS trials and various awareness activities created demand of seed of farmer-preferred varieties.
There was a strong partnership between research partners and Public Seed Corporations, where research
partners produced breeder seed and the Public Seed Corporations produced Foundation seed (FS) and
CS. The four seed corporations (NSC, SFCI, APSSDC and KSSC) together produced 74,531 MT seed that
included 70,607 MT CS and 3,924 MT FS (Tables 8&9). JG 11 was the most popular variety with 85%
share in CS (Table 7-9).
