KMUTT Annual Research Abstracts 2005 The analytical results agree well with the experimental results in the case that the ratio of the water flow rate. It was found that the generally the water flow rate in the tube increased the thermal efficiency. For example, the increase in the thermal efficiency for turbulent flow was about 10 % when the inlet water temperature was same ambient air temperature. And laminar flow, larger increase of the thermal efficiency, as much about 20 %, war obtained. The effect of the water flow rate and initial temperature on the CPC solar collector efficiency was also discussed. IC-164 THERMAL AND HEAT TRANSFER CHARACTERISTICS OF A PCM STORAGE SYSTEM Taveewat Suparos, Boonsong Hemwat, Chamnan Ratsame International Conference on Recent Advances in Mechanical and Material Engineering (ICRAMME'05), May 30-31, 2005, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, p. 26 The thermal and heat transfer characteristics of paraffin (PCM) during the melting and solidification processes were determined experimentally in a vertical cylindrical thermal and energy storage system. The inlet temperature, the flow rate of water uses as the heat transfer fluid. The heat transfer coefficients obtained between the PCM and the cylindrical tank are larger than the calculated values based on the theory of steady-state heat conduction due to the dendritical crystal growth of PCM (using Lumped Technique). The experimental results proved that the PCM melts and solidifies congruently also indicated that the everage heat transfer coefficient and the heat flow rate to the storage tank could have effect system performance. IC-165 INVESTIGATION OF THE THERMAL EFFICIENCIES OF A SOLAR DRYER OPERATED BY SUN-TRACKING PARABOLIC TROUGH COLLECTORS Taveewat Suparos, Boonsong Hemwat, Chamnan Ratsame International Conference on Recent Advances in Mechanical and Material Engineering (ICRAMME'05), May 30-31, 2005, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, p. 68 131 This paper deals with the construction and performance of a solar powered drying system consisting of two parabolic through collectors (PTC) and a drying chamber. The thermal efficiency of both the solar water heater or PTC and the drying system as a function of typical physical parameter and the experimental results for difference fruit and vegetable products at different water flow rate are discussed. The results of this study indicate that the present process drying system has thermal efficiency between 0.4 and 0.85 drying experiments and that the higher water flow rates increase the overall drying performance and thermal efficiency. IC-166 THE CONSTRUCTION A COMPUTER ASSISTED INSTRUCTION PACKAGE ON MULTIMEDIA TECHNOLOGY Paiboon Kiattikomol, Sakesun Yampinij The 19 th International Conference, “Learning Organization in a Learning World” (ICLORD 2005), April 18-22, 2005, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Bangkok, Thailand, pp. 420-425 The purposes of the research were to construct a Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) package on multimedia Technology and to evaluate efficiency, satisfaction and learning achievement, and users' satisfaction. The research tools were 1) a Computer Assisted Instruction Package on Multimedia Technology; and 2) an achievement test. The research sample consisted of 32 students who were studying in the School of Industrial Education, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi. The research results revealed that the efficiency of the Computer-Assisted Instruction was 85.03/82.65, which was higher than criteria set 80/80. The analysis of pretest and posttest scores for learning achievement found that the effectiveness after the process (E post ) = 82.65 was higher than the achievement before study (E pre ) = 31.92 .The results could be concluded that "A Computer Assisted Instruction Package on Multimedia Technology" was able to learning effectiveness of students = 50.73. As a result, the CAI package on Multimedia Technology could be need for self learning. The mean of satisfaction of the sample group was in good level = 4.16. International Conference

132 IC-167 A SCENARIO OF COMPUTER EDUCATION IN THAILAND IN THE YEARS 2004-2008 Paiboon Kiattikomol, Adisak Pongpullponsak, Punjaporn Chanchuey The 19 th International Conference, “Learning Organization in a Learning World” (ICLORD 2005), April 18-22, 2005, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Bangkok, Thailand, p. 919 The purpose of this research was to study scenarios of computer education of Thailand in the years 2004-2008 through Delphi technique. The sampling groups consisted of 18 experts. The tools used for collecting data consisted of 3 questionnaires. Data were analyzed to determine statistical values by using median (Mdn), and quartile (Qx). The results of scenarios of Computer Education of Thailand in the years 2004-2008 were as follows: Administration of curriculum in the future would have education on the web to be a new way for students' integration online and normal learning. The section of standard of using computer for education on network would have courseware development for using standard and integration. Administration management would use computers for raising its management for example registration check, learning outcomes and data searching in the library. Role of teachers and style of instructions would depend on government policies and institutions. Achievement of computers for education would present more interesting lessons through activity. Computer system would be used for developing hardware / software and for providing service which would be easy and convenient to use and change at appropriate time. IC-168 SCENARIOS OF COMPUTER FOR EDUCATION OF THAILAND IN THE YEAR 2004-2008 Paiboon Kiattikomol, Adisak Pongpullponsak, Punjaporn Chanchuey The 19 th International Conference, “Learning Organization in a Learning World” (ICLORD 2005), April 18-22, 2005, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Bangkok, Thailand, pp. 1076-1078 The purposes of this research was to KMUTT Annual Research Abstracts 2005 study the experts’ opinions toward the trend of using computer for education (in higher education) during 2004 - 2008 by using Delphi technique. The sample group consisted of 18 experts in the educational area. This research used the three-round questionnaires--based on a Delphi technique—as a tool to collect the data from the experts. The results of the research showed that using computer for education during 2004 - 2008 were as follows: 1) Using computer for instruction: (a) Curriculum: web-based curriculum will be a new option to offer to learners, (b) Instructional media equipment: internet would be used much more to search information for education, (c) Courseware development: courseware would be developed just as a module more than a whole course, (d) Quality assurance: web-based instruction would be a good assurance system and clear objects and evaluation process, (e) Instructional system design: on-line courseware would be developed as a self learning package and an assisting media for classroom instruction. Courseware would be developed as a module more than a whole course. Computer would be used much more for educational administration such as on-line registration, searching information in the library, or on-line grade checking. Computer would be used to search more information for learner center learning style. Using computer for education would make more instructional quality. Computer instruction packages would be more attractive and help learners to understand concepts more easily. Hardware and software computer would be more efficiency and powerful for education.
