to this statement, saints and angels are not
mediators, but simply intercessors. When the
R. took this view of their office, why did he
forget to show in what the difference between
them consists As far as I know, the word mediator
means one who transacts business between
two parties j and what else is an intercessor
Supplications to them, he says also, consist
merely in asking them to pray for us.
Respecting
this point, it may not be amiss to take the
opinion and practice of other members of the
Romish Church ; and, as the Virgin Mary is a
saint of the first magnitude, we may begin with
observing their views and worship of her.
In the Contemplations on the life and glory
of holy Mary, the mother of Jesus, published
anno 1685, Permissu Superiorum, it is said,
