Perhaps <strong>the</strong> R. has heard of <strong>the</strong> Psalter of<br />

Bonaventure, of which <strong>the</strong> design was, to apply<br />

to <strong>the</strong> Vii"gin all <strong>the</strong> addresses made to<br />

God, in <strong>the</strong> psalms <strong>and</strong> hymns of <strong>the</strong><br />

Church.<br />

This book has been printed, with licence <strong>and</strong><br />

commendation, as a piece *' which was profit-<br />

" abl.e to be printed, <strong>and</strong> very piously <strong>and</strong> com-<br />

''<br />

mendably to be recited <strong>by</strong> all men in <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

" private prayers, to <strong>the</strong> honour of <strong>the</strong> blessed<br />

Virgin." The author of it, also, has been<br />

canonized <strong>by</strong> <strong>the</strong> Church, <strong>and</strong> worshipped a-<br />

mong o<strong>the</strong>rs of <strong>the</strong> same fraternity ; which certainly<br />

implies, that his works were tolerably meritorious.<br />
