the apostle Paul has styled the Captain of salvation
That apostle seems to have imagined
Chriijt the ccmductor of Israel, when he said,

Nuither let us tempt Christ, as some of them

also tempted, and were destroyed of ser-
" pents *." Prone as Papists are to pervert the
plain meaning of scripture, there are many who
have acknowledged Christ to have been the Captain
of the Lord's host ;
