be loosed in heaven *.'' Re was indeed aware
of this little objection, and therefore he is willing
to give them a power to open and shut in
subordination to Peter. Bat he must prove his
premisses, before we admit his conclusion ; as
w^e have not yet granted him, that Peter was
chief pastor. He might as well say, If you will
allow that Peter was the head of the church, I
will prove his supremacy.
As he is apt upon occasions to complain of
the obscurity of the scriptures,
view his standard of orthodoxy,
