Moses, a man of some credit, informs
us there, that Jacob, a man of some authority,
after wrestling with the angel, " called
" the name of the place Peniel ;" for he said,
*' I have seen God face to face *.'* In Hosea's
account of this transaction, also, the same view
of the angel is afforded us. " Yea, he had
" power over the angel, and prevailed ; he
" wept, and made supplication unto him ; he

found him in Bethel, and there he spake with

*' is his memorial t." If the R. think the opinion
of the Fathers of importance, it can likewise

Jacob would join God with an angel, when he
