Abstract—This paper introduces an application research on<br />
video coding H.264 standard and video conference system ,<br />
given the basic structure of the system design, and video<br />
processing module of the system has been optimized, tested<br />
and compared to verify the system has the good real-time<br />
and stability.<br />
Index Terms—video compression standard, H.264, video<br />

I. INTRODUCTION<br />
With the development of information technology and<br />
the popularity of network, the need for supplying high<br />
quality video/audio multimedia services grows rapidly.<br />
Videoconference is a multimedia communication tech that<br />
can achieve the real-time 、 visual and interactive<br />
communication with people who are in deferent places.<br />
Apply of Videoconference tech can save customer’s time<br />
and improve the work efficiency etc[1]. Videoconference<br />
tech has a wide applicable scope, and it has a good<br />
prospect. H.264 applies many mostly used technologies<br />
with the advantage of former video compresssion standard.<br />
It provides fairly good video quality while achieving<br />
better coding efficiency and more simple syntax<br />
expression, and it’s the most efficient video compression<br />
standard at present.This article introduces an application<br />
research on video coding H.264 standard and video<br />
conference system.Relativing hardware video<br />
conferencing system,it invests few on the hardware<br />
equipment, maintains the quantity to be small, thus<br />
becomes low cost high product plan.the System to<br />
network adaptiveness very well,the system may penetrate<br />
the firewall, attends the conference the flexibility to be<br />
very well, the system’s mobility is strong as well. To<br />
enhance the real-time nature of video conferencing system<br />
to use the H.264 standard for video processing module<br />
optimization.video conferencing systems and providing<br />
basic structural design, as well as a brief description of<br />
system modules.<br />
II.<br />
SUMMARY OF SYSTEM<br />
The video conferencing system has five main<br />
functional modules[2]: Video processing module、Audio<br />
Processing Module 、 Network TCP/IP Transmission<br />
Module 、 Network Quality Control Module 、 Meeting<br />

A. Video Processing Module<br />
Video processing modules include video data collection,<br />
encoding, decoding and playback. Playback of video data<br />
collection and use of standards in line with Microsoft's<br />
software development kit VFW (Video For Windows),<br />
mainly by calling AVICap32.dll created AVICAP<br />
window class, window class by AVICAP in the news,<br />
macro functions, structure and the callback function to<br />
achieved. For the H.264 video codec, which has more than<br />
one bright spot in technology, such as the unified symbol<br />
VLC coding, high-precision, multi-mode displacement<br />
estimates, based on 4x4 Integer Transform block, intra<br />
prediction, deblocking filter, support for SI and SP frames,<br />
multi-frame reference, layered coding syntax and so on,<br />
these measures have made H. 264 algorithm has a high<br />
coding efficiency, in the same reconstructed image quality<br />
of the next. Than H.263 bit-rate savings of about 50%;<br />
and the H.264 bit stream structure of the network<br />
adaptability, increased error resilience can be well adapted<br />
to IP and wireless networking applications; application<br />
target range is wider, meet the different rates, different<br />
resolutions and different transmission (storage) occasion<br />
demands. The basic system is open, use without copyright,<br />
which will reduce the system cost. However, the<br />
computational complexity is too high, the complexity of<br />
the encoder for the H.263 ten times, its H.263 decoder<br />
complexity is 3 times. H.264 codec to reduce the<br />
complexity of this system has become the key to whether<br />
the real-time operation[4].<br />
