British ColumBia / <strong>Yukon</strong> <strong>Command</strong>Desormeaux, Alexander Jr. (Alex)Alex was born in Ottawa, Ontario in 1890. He enlisted with the 77 thBattalion but transferred to the 38 th Battalion with the CanadianExpeditionary Force. He served in Canada, England, France, and Bermudaduring World War One. Alex was wounded twice at Vimy Ridge and wasdischarged on March 10, 1919. His father, two sons, grandson, and greatgrandson also served in the Armed Forces. Alex died in 1956.deTourdonnet, LouisLouis served in the Tank Corps, the Governor General’s Horse Guards, from1942 to 1946. He saw action in Africa, the invasion of Sicily, and theinvasion of the Italian mainland. Louis was wounded in 1944 in CentralItaly and sent to England and then Canada in 1945 to recuperate. Hereturned to civilian life in 1946. Louis does not talk about his war years sohis family does not know what medals he won. He now resides in a nursinghome in Vermilion, Alberta. His two brothers, Michael and Marc, alsoserved in the Army.deTourdonnet, MarcMarc served in the Army from 1941 to 1946. He saw action in ContinentalEurope, including Italy, Holland, and Germany. Marc received the Italy Star,the France and Germany Star, the War Medal 1939-45, the Defence Medal,and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He left the Army in1946 but served again between 1948 and 1958. He saw action in Korea andwas awarded the United Nations Service Medal and the Korean War Medal.Marc was living in Fort St. John, <strong>BC</strong> when he passed away. Marc’s twobrothers, Louis and Michael, also served in the Army.www.legionbcyukon.ca99
