British ColumBia / <strong>Yukon</strong> <strong>Command</strong>Keefe, Grace VirginiaVirginia was born in Halzelton, <strong>BC</strong> in 1925. She enlisted in the Air Force inDecember 1943 with her older sister Francis and took basic training atRockcliffe, Ontario. She then took special training in accounting andclerical work at Trenton Air Force Training Centre in Ontario. She servedwith 9 Civilian Maintenance Unit - #2 E.D. in Vancouver, <strong>BC</strong> fromFebruary 1944 until her discharge in April 1945. Virginia has been amember of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #50 in Burns Lake, <strong>BC</strong> for forty-two years.Keegan (nee Penman), AgnesAgnes was born in Hawick, Roxburghshire, Scotland on September 10,1920. She volunteered for the British Army in 1943 and served in 27 thLancaster Company of the Ordnance Corps as a truck driver in Manchester,England. She was discharged in 1945 and awarded the 1939-1945 VolunteerMedal. After the war, Agnes worked in a munitions factory in Birmingham,England. She had six brothers who also served in the Armed Forces,including one who died in Germany. Agnes has been a member of ShalomBranch #178 in Vancouver, <strong>BC</strong> for forty-nine years. She has held everyoffice except that of Treasurer and was awarded the Palm Leaf, one of thehighest Royal Canadian <strong>Legion</strong>’s honours.Kelln, Murray BradfordMurray enlisted in the Navy on April 11, 1962 at HMCS Queen, Regina,Saskatchewan. He served as a radar plotter on HMCS Inch Arran, HMCS LaHulloise, and HMCS Nipigon until he was discharged on April 10, 1965.While he was serving on HMCS Inch Arran in the fall of 1963, he wasinvolved in the shadowing of a Russian trawler for six weeks doing aboutfive knots. The trawler had reportedly been seen fuelling a Russiansubmarine. The watches were one on, one off. Murray is a member of<strong>Legion</strong> Branch #24 in Cranbrook, <strong>BC</strong>.www.legionbcyukon.ca155
