British ColumBia / <strong>Yukon</strong> <strong>Command</strong>Robbins, Lorne AlexanderLorne enlisted in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve on April 27,1943 at HMCS Queen, Regina, SK and he was an able seaman on theaircraft carrier HMCS Puncher. His duties included loading anti-aircraftguns during action. HMCS Puncher went from Vancouver through thePanama Canal and up the eastern coast of the U.S.A. from where it tookfighter planes to Casablanca, Africa. It then went to Scapa Flow, northernScotland and from there, to the Arctic to bomb the coast of Norway. ThePuncher then returned to Glasgow, Scotland, and was anchored in the ClydeRiver when the war in Europe ended. Lorne volunteered for the war in thePacific until the war ended there. He was discharged on November 6, 1945.Lorne is a member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #24 in Cranbrook, <strong>BC</strong>.Robertson, Alexander James (Stub)Stub was born in 1921 in Rivers, Manitoba. Stub attended school in Kersleyafter his family moved to the Quesnel area of <strong>BC</strong>. He enlisted in the Armyin Quesnel in 1940 and served as a dispatch rider with the South AlbertaRegiment. One of three brothers who enlisted in World War Two, Stub waskilled in action in 1944. He is buried in Bergen-op-Zoom Canadian WarCemetery in the Netherlands.Romano, Barry RaymondBarry enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on November 12, 1953 inFort St. John, Quebec. He served with the rank of Leading Aircraftsmanwith Group 2 in North Bay, Ontario and with #2 Fighter Wing inGrostenquin, France. Lorne worked as an aero engine technician, repairingand changing F86 jet engines, starting and running them up, and sendingthem back to the squadrons. He worked on maintenance of all jets. Barryreceived the NATO Medal for two years of service with NATO during theSuez Canal Crisis. He was discharged on November 24, 1956. Barry is amember of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #24 in Cranbrook, <strong>BC</strong>.www.legionbcyukon.ca239
