British ColumBia / <strong>Yukon</strong> <strong>Command</strong>Dagnall, Harold WilliamHarold was born on August 9, 1891 in Melbourne, Australia. He immigratedto Canada and settled on Vancouver Island to work as a logger. He served inthe 88 th Regiment, Victoria Fusiliers, the local militia unit, and on March 31,1915, joined the 48 th Infantry Battalion in Victoria, <strong>BC</strong>. The Battalion wentto England in July 1915, where it was redesignated the 3 rd Pioneer Battalion(48 th Canadians), and saw action in France and Belgium as part of the 3 rdCanadian Division. The Battalion was broken up on May 31, 1917 toprovide reinforcements for the Canadian Corps. Harold returned to Canadaafter the War and re-enlisted in the Army in the Second World War, againserving overseas.Dal Magro, Pierangelo (Pierro)Pierro was born in Vancouver in 1968. He earned his Bachelor of Arts inArchaeology and was working towards a Masters Degree in ClassicalArchaeology. Pierro spent his life cultivating himself into being a fullhuman being: athlete, scholar, soldier, artist, and traveller. While serving asan Army Cadet with the <strong>BC</strong>R 2290 Corps, Pierro joined the BritishColumbia Regiment (Duke of Connaught’s Own), <strong>BC</strong>’s oldest activemilitary unit and eventually became an Armoured Troop Sergeant. Hetravelled to France to represent his Regiment at the 90 th Anniversary of theBattle of Vimy Ridge and did two tours of duty in Afghanistan. Pierro diedin 2010.Dempster, WilliamWilliam was born in Saanich, British Columbia in 1913. He enlisted in theCanadian Forestry Corps, the Royal Canadian Electrical and MechanicalEngineers, and the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps in Scotland duringWorld War Two. William was awarded the Canadian Volunteer ServiceMedal and Clasp, the Defence Medal, and the 1939-1945 Star. He has beena member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #173 in Osoyoos for forty-four years.www.legionbcyukon.ca95
