British ColumBia / <strong>Yukon</strong> <strong>Command</strong>Drew, Malcolm J. G.Malcolm was born in Calgary, Alberta on May 9, 1918. He served with the 50 thBrigade (Calgary Regiment) from 1936 to 1938 and with the Royal CanadianNavy between July 11, 1919 and November 12, 1945 in the North Atlantic. Heserved on HMCS Wolf out of Comox, <strong>BC</strong> in 1940 and 1941 then joined theminesweeper HMCS Wasaga in Halifax and later served on HMCS St. Laurentas a Leading Seaman, Submarine Detection where he was joined by his twinbrother, John. The two had been separated at an early age and raised in separatefoster homes; Malcolm says he “had no idea he had joined the Navy – it was awonderful reunion.” Malcolm was promoted to Petty Officer and served asHigher Sub Detector on HMCS Chicoutimi, a corvette assigned to convoypatrols in the North Atlantic, until September 1944. Malcolm left the Navy onNovember 12, 1945 and returned to <strong>BC</strong> to live in North Vancouver. He hasbeen a member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #140 Sechelt for forty years.Dubreuil, Jean-PaulJean-Paul enlisted in the Montreal Highland Cadets in March 1937 andtransferred to Le Régiment de Maisonneuve of the Militia in April 1938.When World War Two began, he reported for duty on September 3, 1939and later signed up for the CAAF. In August 1940, Jean-Paul was sent toEngland. He transferred to Le Régiment de la Chaudière as a Sergeant inApril 1944 and was recommended for officer commission in December ofthat year. Jean-Paul was discharged in April 1946 after serving in the UK,France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He re-enlisted early in 1949 andjoined The Royal 22 nd Regiment. He served in Canada, Korea, andGermany, retiring in 1960 with the rank of Major. Jean-Paul is a member ofthe Executive at <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #133 in Port Coquitlam.Dunahee, HarveyHarvey was born in Fort Francis, Ontario on August 14, 1938. He enlistedin the Royal Canadian Navy as a stoker and served for five years aboardHMCS Ontario and HMCS Stettler. After leaving the Navy, he joined theCoast Guard. Harry was a Life Member of the Esquimalt Dockyard <strong>Legion</strong>Branch #172. He died in 2011.www.legionbcyukon.ca105
