British ColumBia / <strong>Yukon</strong> <strong>Command</strong>Abbot, Philip Henry (Bud)Bud enlisted in the Royal Navy on March 7, 1941 at HMS Daedalus in Leeon-the-Solentin the United Kingdom. He served as a naval pilot withtorpedo bomber squadrons at various land bases in U.K. as well as on HMSIndomitable, HMS Furious, HMS Victorious and HMS Smiter in theAtlantic; the North Sea; Cochin, India; Katukurunda, Ceylon; and one yearin Londonderry, Ireland as Lieutenant (A) in joint anti-submarine school.Bud was discharged on February 24, 1948. He is a member of <strong>Legion</strong>Branch #24 in Cranbrook, <strong>BC</strong>.Adye, Edwin Ralph (Ted)Ted was born in Toronto in 1928 and grew up there and in Whitby, Ontario.After a number of civilian jobs, Ted joined the Army. He was sent to Calgaryto the 2 nd Battalion of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry andshipped out to Korea in November 1950. He spent 10 months in Korea andJapan conquering many “hills”, including 677 at Kapyong, until he wasseverely wounded in October 1951. He was invalided home and spent the next25 years with the Royal Canadian Engineers, serving in many parts of Canada,with UNEF in Egypt from 1959-60, and at Alert in the high Arctic from 1961-62. Ted ended his career at CFB Esquimalt. He has been a member ofTrafalgar/Pro Patria Branch #292 of The Royal Canadian <strong>Legion</strong> for the past25 years and is also a member of Unit 27 of the Korea Veterans Association.His father, Edwin Ralph George Adye, served in both World Wars.Alexander, Edward C. (Ed)Ed was born in Prince George. <strong>BC</strong> on April 20, 1925. He joined the Navyin April 1945, just prior to the war ending in Europe, and trained for thePacific Area of war with Japan. Ed served on many ships during his career,receiving his commission in 1958. He served on both coasts, at Esquimaltand Halifax, as well as at headquarters in Ottawa. In 1968, he was assignedas <strong>Command</strong>ing Officer of C.F. Meter (Nanoose Bay Underwater WeaponsRange) in <strong>BC</strong> where he served until 1972. Ed retired in 1975 and workedfor the Government Residential Assistance Project until 1979 when hisfamily moved to Nanoose Bay. In 1981, Ed was appointed Pastor of theChristian Fellowship Center where he is still an elder. Ed and his wifemoved to Parksville, <strong>BC</strong> in 2002.www.legionbcyukon.ca53
