British ColumBia / <strong>Yukon</strong> <strong>Command</strong>Stuckenberg, Leo H.Leo was born in Meanook, Alberta in 1925. He served in the RoyalCanadian Air Force during World War Two with #7 AOS (Air ObserverSchool) in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. He was awarded his Air NavigatorBadge. Leo is a member of <strong>Legion</strong> #2 in New Westminster.Summerville, Kenneth Graham (Ken)Ken was born on January 16, 1921 in Toronto, Ontario. He joined the RoyalCanadian Air Force in 1940 and became a wireless operator flying inHudson bombers out of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia looking for U-Boats. Here-enlisted as a pilot later in 1940 and flew Harvards as a flying instructorwith the rank of Flight Officer out of Dunville #6 Service Flying TrainingSchool (SFTS) Ontario until the end of the War. He was released inKingston, Ontario at #14 SFTS in 1945. Ken was rated an above averageinstructor. He was a member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #8 in White Rock. Ken diedon January 29, 2011.Sutherland, George BainGeorge was born in Berriedale, Caithness, Scotland in 1895. He came to Canada in1913 to work at Ingramport, NS but returned to Scotland in 1915 to join theCaithness and Sutherland Highlanders who amalgamated with the 5 th SeaforthHighlander Regiment, 51 st Division during WWI. He served in France in the Sommeoffensive in 1916 and was in the trenches as a sniper and bomber at Thiepval, HighWood, Neuville, St. Vast, Armentières, Hébuterne, Courcelette, Beaumont-Hamel,and Mametz Wood, where he was gassed. George spent the rest of the war inhospitals in England. He married in 1919 and immigrated to Canada. He lived firstin Halifax and then in 1924 moved to Calgary where he worked for the C.P.R. Hejoined the Veterans Volunteer Reserve from 1942 until 1943 when he moved toVictoria where he enlisted in the Canadian Scottish Regiment and served until 1947.George was a member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #1 in Calgary and then for many years wasa member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #172 in Esquimalt.
