British ColumBia / <strong>Yukon</strong> <strong>Command</strong>Philips (nee Richman), HannahHannah joined the Royal Air Force on January 16, 1943 in Gloucester,England. She served during World War Two in Yorkshire, Sussex,Liverpool, York, and Essex, England. She was a cook in the Airmen’s Messand then in the Officers’ Mess. Hannah was discharged in 1946. She is amember of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #24 in Cranbrook and also has an ACW LifeMembership in Alberta.Pinsonneault, AlixAlix was born on February 6, 1927 in Glentworth, Saskatchewan. Sheenlisted in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps on April 6, 1945 and washonourably discharged on January 21, 1946. Alix served mainly at NationalDefence Headquarters in Ottawa as a typist. She has been a member of<strong>Legion</strong> Branch #167 in Lumby for twenty-two years.Piper, R. A. (Ron)Ron was born in Chisholm, Alberta on March 19, 1936. He enlisted in theRoyal Canadian Air Force in 1955 and served until 1985. He was firstposted to Clinton, Ontario before going to Fermont, Quebec to work as afighter control operator. He did the same work in Grand Forks, NorthDakota. His subsequent postings were to Armstrong, Ontario; North Bay,Ontario; Lowther, near Kapuskasing, Ontario; Fermont, Quebec; the DEWLine for a year; Comox, British Columbia, and, finally, Holberg onVancouver Island, where he stayed for four years. After taking his release,Ron moved to Vernon, <strong>BC</strong>, and then to Lumby, <strong>BC</strong>, where he has been amember of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #167 for thirty-one years.www.legionbcyukon.ca227
