British ColumBia / <strong>Yukon</strong> <strong>Command</strong>Reuther, Lillian PeggyPeggy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1924. She served as a cook withthe Canadian Women’s Army Corps in Canada during World War Two.Peggy was a member of Smoky Smith <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #16 in SouthVancouver for twenty-five years. She died in 2006.Richard, Alcide (Al)Al was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, in 1926. He enlistedin the RCNVR on July 17, 1944 and served as an Able Seaman in Canada,on the North Atlantic, and on HMCS Somers Isles during World War Two.HMCS Somers Isles was a temporary training facility for the RoyalCanadian Navy in Bermuda from 1944 to 1945 providing support servicesfor ships of the Royal Canadian Navy on training exercises called“Evolutions”. After the War, Al served as a Medic in the Royal Canadian AirForce for twenty-three years, retiring as a Master Warrant Officer. He wasawarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the War Medal1939-1945, and the Canadian Forces Decoration and Clasp. Al lives inKelowna, <strong>BC</strong> where he has been a member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #26 for thirtyeightyears.Ricketts, Harold GordonHarold was born in Saint John, New Brunswick in 1924. He served in theRoyal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve aboard HMCS Loch Alvie in theNorth Atlantic and English Channel as an anti-aircraft gunner from June1942 to October 1945. Harold also served in the RCASA as a Captain fromJanuary 1951 until February 1962. He is a member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #229in Whalley, <strong>BC</strong>.www.legionbcyukon.ca237
