British ColumBia / Yukon CommandNickerson, Charles RonaldCharles was born in Port Clyde, Nova Scotia on October 22, 1922. Heserved with the 1 st Canadian Survey Regiment in Italy during World WarTwo. Charles was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, the Italy Star, the DefenceMedal, the France and Germany Star, and the Canadian Volunteer ServiceMedal and Clasp. He was a member of Legion Branch #81, Michel-Natal,BC for more than twenty years. Charles died on February 1, 2010.Norman, George JordanGeorge was born in Glasgow, Scotland on December 2, 1922. Heimmigrated to Canada with his mother when he was seven to join the rest ofhis family in Montreal. George served with the 1 st Division Petrol Company,Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in England, Sicily, Italy, France,Holland, and Germany during World War Two. When he returned toCanada, he moved to BC where he worked in construction and with the BCDepartment of Highways on the Bridge Crew. He moved to Nakusp, BC in1961 and became active with the Rocky Mountain Rangers Cadet Corpssponsored by the Legion. He retired due to illness in 1984 and moved toHeriot Bay on Quadra Island to enjoy gardening. George was a member ofLegion Branch #20 in Nakusp and Branch #154 on Quadra Island for fiftyyears. He died on October 17, 2010.Oakes, Elton JohnElton was born in Miami, Manitoba in 1930 and moved to British Columbiain 1948. He enlisted in the Army in 1953 and served in Korea with theQueen’s Own Rifles until 1955, helping to protect the Demilitarized Zone.He is a member of Collingwood Legion Branch #48 in Vancouver andBranch #26 of the Army Navy and Air Force Club.www.legionbcyukon.ca215
