British ColumBia / <strong>Yukon</strong> <strong>Command</strong>Leggett, ArthurArthur was born in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta on December 10, 1927.He served in the 3 rd Battalion, Royal 22 e Regiment (Van Doos) at CFBValcartier and in Korea. In Korea, Arthur’s job was supplying food to themen of mortar platoons. One of his friends from Montreal was killed. Hereceived the Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal. Arthur left the Army in1963 and worked with the Vancouver Police and RCMP Drug Squads. He isa Life Member of the Army, Navy and Air Force Club in Vancouver and hasbeen a <strong>Legion</strong> Member with Rocky Mountain House <strong>Legion</strong> for fifty-sevenyears.Leontowicz, PeterPeter served with the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve on thefrigate HMCS Wentworth during World War Two. The Wentworth providedanti-submarine and anti-aircraft protection to convoys crossing the NorthAtlantic between St. John’s, Newfoundland, and Londonderry, Ireland. NearD-Day, Peter was a Quartermaster Helmsman when the ship was part of theescort for the largest convoy – 150 ships – to cross the Atlantic during WorldWar Two. He mustered out of the Volunteer Reserve shortly after the shipwas decommissioned following Victory in the Pacific.LeQuesne, Ernest FrederickErnest was born on October 21, 1896 on Jersey, one of the Channel Islandsin the UK. When he immigrated to Canada, he settled in Bridgewater, NovaScotia where he worked as an auto mechanic. He enlisted in the 112 thCanadian Infantry Nova Scotia Overseas Battalion on December 6, 1915and was sent to England in July 1916. Ernest’s battalion was absorbed intothe 26 th Reserve Battalion in England and he was transferred to serve withother infantry battalions in France and Flanders. Ernest survived the war andin 1940, served as President of Prince Edward <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #91 inLangford, <strong>BC</strong>.www.legionbcyukon.ca169
