British ColumBia / Yukon CommandRambold, William Vincent (Bill)Bill was born in Luseland, Saskatchewan in 1921. His family moved to Port Alberniin 1930. Bill enlisted in Victoria in 1942 and after completing basic training inVernon, joined the 2 nd Yorkton Light Anti-Aircraft Battery of the Royal CanadianArtillery. He served in Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, and Holland and was inLondon on VE Day. After the war, Bill served in the Canadian Army Militia with theCanadian Scottish Regiment from May 1948 until March 1957 and worked in theforestry industry as a faller until retirement. Bill says his introduction to the war wason a Sunday afternoon a day or two after his arrival in England. He and his comradeswere relaxing when he saw a plane go overhead and then saw a bomb falling. Afterthe bomb exploded, Bill saw it had gone through the wall of the house he was in,bounced through the kitchen wall of the place next door, and exploded there. Bill’sdecorations include the Italy Star and the 1939-1945 Medal. Bill was a member ofLegion Branch #53 in Cowichan until he died in 2002.Ramsey, JackJack was born in Clogheen, Ireland in 1922. He served in the 1 st Army TankBrigade during World War Two in Italy and throughout Europe. Jack livesin Okanagan Falls, BC where he has been a member of Legion Branch #227for twenty-four years.Redekop, Frank D.Frank was born on July 12, 1929 in Hazlet, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in theArmy in Vancouver on August 30, 1950 and after completing basic trainingat Camp Borden, ON was posted to the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (RoyalCanadians) in Calgary, Alberta. After training in Alberta, Frank was sent toKorea. He was honourably discharged in Vancouver on September 4, 1953and was awarded the Korea Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, andthe Canadian Volunteer Service Medal for Korea. Frank then worked inconstruction and in a wire business until he retired. He was a member ofLegion Branch #006 in Cloverdale for twenty-four years and was awardeda Life Membership in 2001. Frank served in a number of positions in theLegion and on the Executive. He died in 2007.www.legionbcyukon.ca233
