British ColumBia / <strong>Yukon</strong> <strong>Command</strong>Hess, FredFred enlisted in the Navy on March 1, 1943 at HMCS Naden. He served asan able-bodied seaman, operating radar on HMCS Fennel on North Atlanticconvoy duties. He was discharged on November 21, 1945. Fred is a memberof <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #24 in Cranbrook, <strong>BC</strong>.Hill, Milton LynnMilton was born in Quesnel, <strong>BC</strong> in 1924. After graduating from the localhigh school, he attended Vancouver College and took a business course atSprott-Shaw Business School in Vancouver. He enlisted in the RoyalCanadian Air Force in October 1941 and trained in Vancouver as a WirelessAir Gunner. He was sent to Scotland with the rank of Sergeant to flySunderlands out of Inverness, Scotland with the Royal Air Force Coastal<strong>Command</strong>. Milton was killed in action when his damaged plane crashed onNovember 26, 1944. He is buried in Harrogate (Stonefall) Cemetery inYorkshire, England, a Commonwealth War Graves Commission burial sitefor the dead in WWI and WWII.Himes, Kenneth Albert (Ken)Ken was born in Fort William, Ontario in 1932. He served with the RoyalCanadian Regiment in Korea between 1950 and 1954. He was awarded theKorea Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service medal for Korea, and theUnited Nations Service Medal (Korea). Ken has been a member of PrinceEdward <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #91 in Langford for seventeen years.www.legionbcyukon.ca143
