British ColumBia / <strong>Yukon</strong> <strong>Command</strong>Conroy, JoyceJoyce enlisted in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps (CWAC) on June 9,1942 in Vancouver, British Columbia. She was assigned as an OrderlyRoom Corporal to #11 Vocational School in Vancouver before beingdischarged on February 21, 1946. Joyce is a member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #24in Cranbrook, <strong>BC</strong>.Cox, Kenneth (Ken)Ken was born in Vernon, <strong>BC</strong> on July 30, 1932 and was raised in Lumby, <strong>BC</strong>.He enlisted in the Army in Vancouver on August 26, 1953 and took basictraining at Camp Barriefield, now McNaughton Barracks, in Kingston,Ontario. He was posted to Whitehorse in May 1954 and then was sent toGermany in August 1957. In August 1960, he went to Calgary and in July1961, went to Egypt with the UNEF. Ken was posted to Vernon, <strong>BC</strong> fromJune 1962 until August 1965 then to Cyprus for a year before returning toVernon in August 1966. Ken was employed as a Vehicle Mechanic(Wheeled) and was released with the rank of Master Corporal. He wasawarded the UN Egypt Medal, the UN Cyprus Medal, the UN PeacekeepingMedal, the Centennial Medal, and the Canadian Forces Decoration. Ken hasbeen a member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #167 in Lumby, <strong>BC</strong> for twenty-nine years.Croft, Eric StephenEric was born in Sussex, England in 1918. He served as a Sergeant with theSeaforth Highlanders of Canada during World War Two and was also amechanic with the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps. Eric was a member ofthe Army and Navy & Air Force Club for twenty years. He died in 1979.www.legionbcyukon.ca91
