British ColumBia / <strong>Yukon</strong> <strong>Command</strong>Gatzke, Christopher (Chris)Chris was born in Vernon, <strong>BC</strong> on July 26, 1958. He enlisted in Kamloops in1979 as a Mobile Support Equipment Operator and took basic training atCFB Cornwallis, Nova Scotia. He was then posted to CFB Borden inOntario and subsequently to CFB Chilliwack in <strong>BC</strong>. He requested release in1981. Chris has been a member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #167 in Lumby, <strong>BC</strong> fortwenty-six years.Gervais, NormanNorman enlisted in the 1 Combat Engineer Regiment in Chilliwack, <strong>BC</strong> in1986. He served in 4 Combat Engineer Regiment with NATO in Lahr,Germany, and for four years at Canadian Forces Station Alert. His father,two great uncles, great grandfather, Alexander Desormeaux Jr. and greatgreat grandfather, Alexander Desormeaux, also served in the Armed Forces.Gervais, RegReg served as a Sapper in the Engineers with the United Nations EmergencyForce in Egypt for one year from 1962 to 1963. Reg’s great grandfather,Alexandre Desormeaux Sr., grandfather, Alexandre Desormeaux Jr., as wellas two uncles, and his son also served in the Armed Forces. Reg lives in the<strong>Legion</strong> Gardens in Maple Ridge, <strong>BC</strong> where he is a member of <strong>Legion</strong>Branch #88.www.legionbcyukon.ca125
