British ColumBia / <strong>Yukon</strong> <strong>Command</strong>Sutton, Joseph (Willy)Willy was born in Chandler, Quebec in 1940. He was with #592 (CanadairMontreal) Community Air Cadet Squadron in the 1950s and enlisted in theRoyal Canadian Air Force in 1957. He served during Peacetime as an aeroengine mechanic with the rank of Corporal with 415, 416, 425, and 414Squadrons. During his service, Willy was stationed in St. Hubert, Quebec;Summerside, PEI; Goose Bay, Labrador; Jacksonville, Florida; Bermuda;Iceland; France; the Azores; and Puerto Rico. He retired in 1970 and workedas a millwright in mills across Canada. Willy has been a member of PowellRiver <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #164 for ten years.Swanson, William John (Bill)Bill was born in Neepawa, Manitoba on September 14, 1918. He served inthe Royal Canadian Air Force during World War Two in Europe and acrossthe North Atlantic. He has been a member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #74 for twentyoneyears.Syrette, Timothy J.Timothy was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario in 1948. He joined the Navy onMarch 11, 1965 and served on both coasts until he retired on May 9, 2000.Timothy was posted on the East Coast to HMCS Algonquin, HMCS St. Laurent,HMCS Fraser, HMCS Ojibwa, HMCS Bonaventure, HMCS Restigouche,HMCS Huron, CFB Halifax, CFFS Halifax, CFB Halifax Fleet SoftwareSupport Centre, and MARCOM HQ. On the West Coast, starting in July 1988,he was posted to HMCS Terra Nova, HMCS Qu’Appelle, MARPAC HQ,HMCS Protecteur, HMCS Kootenay, and CFFS Esquimalt. After retiring fromthe Regular Force with the rank of Chief Petty Officer 2 nd Class, Timothyreturned to the Reserve Force and served four years in CFFS Esquimalt. Heretired “for good” on January 19, 2005. He was awarded the Canadian ForcesDecoration with Two Bars and the NATO Medal with Two Bars. Timothy hasbeen a member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #227 in Okanagan Falls for seven years.www.legionbcyukon.ca269
