British ColumBia / <strong>Yukon</strong> <strong>Command</strong>Fontaine, Joseph Raymond ErnestRaymond was born in Ponteix, Saskatchewan on August 15, 1925 andpassed away on March 1, 2011 in Mesa, Arizona. In 1942, when he wasseventeen, he enlisted in the Canadian Army in Vancouver, <strong>BC</strong> and servedoverseas until 1946, first in the Artillery and then in the Canada ScottishRegiment. Raymond was awarded the Defence Medal, the France andGermany Star, the 1939-1945 Star, and The Canadian Volunteer ServiceMedal. While in the army, he boxed with the Golden Gloves. After the war,Raymond worked as a logger for over twenty years as a Cat Skinner withMacMillan Bloedel until he retired in 1990.Foreman, Robert Low (Bobby)Bobby was born on December 21, 1920 in Brock, Saskatchewan. When hewas fifteen, his family moved to Beaver Pass where they operated a generalstore. In August 1942, Bobby enlisted in the Seaforth Highlanders ofCanada in Vancouver. He served for one year in England before going toAfrica and then Italy where he was wounded three times before being killedin action on February 24, 1945. Bobby is buried in the Assisi War Cemeteryin Rivotorto, Italy. Mount Foreman, 36 kilometers east of Barkerville, <strong>BC</strong>in Bowron Lake Provincial Park is named in his honour.Fraga, EdunioEdunio was born in Horta Falls, Azores in 1934. He served in thePortuguese Army and after immigrating to Canada served as a Corporal withthe Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Korea. Edunio has been amember of Smoky Smith <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #16 for sixteen years.www.legionbcyukon.ca117
