He served in theArmy during World War Two with the Queen’s Own Rifles and the PrincessPatricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Canada. He was awarded the 1939-1945 War Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. William was amember of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #57 in Mission for sixty-three years. He died onJanuary 31, 2011.Gowan (nee Collver), Elizabeth AnnaElizabeth was born in Holden, Alberta on August 5, 1922. She served as aNursing Sister with the rank of Lieutenant on the staff of a Canadian ArmyHospital in Yorkshire, England from 1944 to 1945. Fortunately, Elizabethwas able to visit her brother Joe, a Halifax bomber pilot, before he was lostover the North Sea returning from a mission over Hamburg on July 29,1944. Elizabeth returned to Shilo, Manitoba after the war and married MajorJohn Gowan, whom she had treated as a patient in England during the war.Elizabeth died on September 20, 2010.Graham, CliffCliff was born in Newmarket, Ontario in 1939. He served with the RoyalCanadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in Peacetime at CampBorden, Ontario, Camp Shilo, Manitoba, in Korea, Cyprus, and Germany,and in Quebec City, Gagetown and Toronto.www.legionbcyukon.ca127
