WELCOME TO AMEE 2014, MILANLetter from AMEE Executive Committee and SecretariatDear ParticipantWelcome to Milan. We typically spend two years planning a conference and carefully read your feedback fromthe previous year’s conference, and now that AMEE 2014 is here we feel both excited and apprehensive. Excitedbecause we think we have a wonderful and varied programme which hopefully has something for everyone, nomatter which part of the world they come from and what are their particular interests. Apprehensive becausewe realise that you too have spent a lot of time and effort in conducting research and preparing your AMEEpresentations, and you have also used up precious funds for your visit to Milan, so we want you to feel that AMEE2014 more than lives up to your expectations. The Executive Committee and AMEE Staff can be identified by theirbadges, so please do stop us and let us know what you like about AMEE 2014 and if we could do anything better.Better still, drop by the AMEE exhibition stand where you can introduce yourself to us and we can see the facebehind the email address!Year after year, the complexity of the programme is a major challenge, and we are constantly trying to think ofways to make it easier to navigate. This programme has everything you need to know, and the abstract bookis available on the website www.amee.org. The App introduced last year was a resounding success, and is alsoavailable for AMEE 2014. You can build your own personal schedule and even set reminders so you don’t miss animportant session, as well as linking to the abstracts. Accessing the App on either a smartphone or tablet is reallyeasy and instructions are given on the inside front cover of this programme. We also have a large Social Mediateam and there’s always someone available on the Helpdesk in the registration area.Sessions in both the Gold Plenary and Auditorium will be streamed through AMEE Live! for participants watchingback at home. These sessions will also be recorded so if you miss one or if you want to catch one of the interviewswith participants, speakers and award winners you can access them later on www.ameelive.org and by enteringthe username amee and the password milan2014.Due to data protection restrictions we are not producing a delegate list this year. Please don’t forget that as anAMEE member you can register on MedEdWorld and upload your profile to the Community. You can then networkwith others with similar interests and send messages within the Community. All areas of MedEdWorld are freeto AMEE members, and can be accessed with your AMEE username and password. We have set up forums inMedEdWorld for each day of the Conference and encourage you to upload your presentation into the respectiveforum. There are also themed forums and themed lunch tables (see page 11) so if you’re interested in one of thesetopics, why not join like-minded colleagues for lunch, or communicate with them via the forums? There will alsobe a supply of coloured dots on the notice board which you can select and stick on your name badge to indicateyou interest in one of the selected themes.As always, our thanks go to many people who have worked so hard over the preceding months.
