easy to find a good definition for “social services”. Because<br />
of this, and in order to address this theme, it is almost<br />

Vienna, the scientist Dr Birgit Trukeschitz busies herself with<br />
the complexity of “social services”. She has succeeded at<br />
drawing up a generally understandable concept wording.<br />
A definition<br />
“Social services are services that address disadvantaged<br />
persons or groups of persons within a society (the so-called<br />
target group) and serve the purpose (objective) of im -<br />
proving the life situation of this person (group/s). It consists<br />
of consultation, support and nursing services, as well as<br />
activation, employment and qualification services, to the<br />
extent that socially-supporting aspects play a key role
