SUPPORT FOR COMPANY FOUNDERS AND START-UP ENTREPRENEURS – SPACE FOR OFFICES, SPACE FOR IDEAS
To make it clear right from the start: Bonn and the Rhein-
Sieg region are a good breeding ground for everyone
wishing to take the plunge and set up an own business. This
surrounding offers a myriad of possibilities, especially for
founders of a new business in the service-providing sector
and for freelancers. On the one hand, this is due to the
purchasing power and, on the other, the locational ad -
vantages offered by numerous medium-sized and large
companies.
And who invented it?
Start-ups that develop a new business idea have a good
shot at success. In this regard, True Fruits is a textbook ex -
ample. The healthy smoothies in the puristic glass bottle
started their triumphal procession during the biology
studies of the three company founders. Today, the fruits are
part of the product programme at almost every business
that offers food in and around Germany.
companies offers an international, technologically-friendly
and innovative surrounding. A few of the large ones
are Deutsche Telekom, Deutsche Post, Postbank just like
Tank & Rast but also medium-sized companies from a variety
of different industries. The University of Bonn, the Bonn-
Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences and the Alanus
University promote the innovation-friendly climate to an
equal extent. The region’s high degree of media affinity also
sometimes helps to arouse interest and disseminate great
ideas.
Regional entrepreneurial spirit
Since 1998, the Institute for Research on Medium-Sized
Companies (abbreviated with IfM) in Bonn has been cal -
culating the so-called NUI (New Entrepreneurial Initiative)
regional ranking. In so doing, entrepreneurial and business
start-ups, takeover companies, new arrivals in the form of
